You will be empowered to cast a vision for Youth Ministry at Rocky Fork that leads students to deepen their relationship with Jesus. You will be focused on building intentional relationships with young people to see them become all that Christ has intended. You will be joining a ministry team that desires to build and work together in a collaborative way, using all our skills and talents together to see people come to Know Jesus and Love like Him.

POSITION PURPOSE

 

To lead and engage an energized team of adult Youth Sponsors as you collectively lead Middle School and High School students to accomplish the Mission and Vision of Rocky Fork:

 

MAKING DISCIPLES BY LEADING PEOPLE TO KNOW JESUS AND LOVE LIKE HIM.

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

The primary role of our Youth Minister is to provide direction, leadership, and planning to volunteers and programs that work in partnership with parents and families to engage, encourage, mentor, motivate, and disciple Rocky Fork’s Middle School & High School students.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Youth Ministry

    • Recruit, train, and develop volunteers to assist in all phases of Youth Ministry.

      • Coordinate with volunteers to help them use their gifts to help lead in all areas of Youth Ministry (teaching, small group leadership, contact work, etc.).

      • Meet with volunteers at least monthly to communicate, encourage, and train. 

      • Leverage gifts of staff and other lay leaders to help develop volunteers.

      • Develop student leadership groups to help advance ministry. 

    • Support our students beyond the four walls of the Church through regular contact work. The expectation is the Youth Minister would regularly visit local schools and attend school events/activities. 

    • Plan and organize weekly gatherings that challenge and speak to MS and HS students. This person must be able to teach effectively in large group settings and will regularly teach both MS and HS students. 

    • Provide a small group ministry focused on creating community and discipleship. 

    • Plan and organize retreats, events, and mission trips throughout the year for MS and HS students. 

    • Provide an ongoing outreach to students not in church, finding ways to offer hospitality that provides on ramps for non-churched students. 

    • Maintain discipling relationships with students through the first year of college or post-HS life. 

    • Develop ways to intentionally partner with parents as they raise their MS and HS kids. 

      • Spend time regularly getting to know the parents of MS and HS students. 

      • Work with other staff and volunteers to identify ways to encourage and provide resources to parents as they raise their students.

    • Collaborate and work with RF Discipleship & Children's Ministers to plan and execute a churchwide discipleship plan for birth through adults

    • Work with the RF Children's Minister in planning and executing a smooth transition from RF Kids to RF Students.

  • Rocky Fork Staff Member

    • Assist in all churchwide events (Christmas, Easter, Outreach Events, etc.)

    • Attend all staff meetings

    • Collaborate with churchwide staff and volunteers to further advance Kingdom work at Rocky Fork.

  • Strong and growing relationship with Jesus fueled daily by time in His word and prayer

  • Personal conduct consistent with attributes described in 1 Tim 3 and Titus 1

  • Driven to exceed expectations and deliver positive outcomes

  • Servant-leader mentality

  • Desire to be part of a ministry team

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Qualified candidate would ideally hold a ministry-related degree and have 3+ years of experience in a successful youth ministry. 

  • Communicate well and in a timely manner. For this position that includes:

    • Communicating regularly with students, staff, elders, volunteers, and parents. 

    • Participating in staff meetings and other staff activities.

    • Coordinating communication needs with those of the larger church. 

  • Demonstrated ability to select, write, and deliver lessons, devotionals and small group material that impacts and challenges both MS and HS students. 

  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and equip volunteers who can engage in and support all parts of Youth Ministry.
